The Cotswolds is full of rich history, stunning scenery, charming old towns and great hotels and dining. Everything but a working distillery... Until now.
The desire to reflect the natural beauty of North Cotswolds and honour its heritage runs through everything we do here – we use local raw materials, traditional kit and techniques and partner up with other independent producers in the area as much as possible.
When Dan first found the site it was in a bit of a state – the shell of the two buildings were here but nothing else. We set about restoring the buildings to working order, landscaping the grounds and then creating the region’s first full-scale distillery. We opened our doors in September 2014 and have welcomed visitors to the site every day since.
‘Small but perfectly formed’ absolutely describes our site; the distillery building itself is a miniature version of what is usually an enormous plant, all fitted in under one roof. And the shop and tasting rooms are more like a cosy Cotswolds cottage – you can sit by the wood burner and get to know us and our Outstanding Natural Spirits. All in all, it’s pretty different from the corporate visitor experiences you sometimes find at distilleries.
In 2018 we are looking forward to opening a new space for visitors, which will give us some much-needed room to expand our tasting rooms and shop, and offer visitors light refreshments as well.
And we couldn’t ask for a better location. We’re proud to be part of village life here – our team live locally, our neighbours help with the bottling and fruit peeling, and the spent grains from our mash go to feed the local cows. It’s all about being an active part of this beautiful region. There are some fantastic things to see around us; from Blenheim Palace to the home of Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon, and all the beautiful villages in between.
So why not book a trip; come to the distillery for a tour and tasting, take in the beautiful sights of the Cotswolds countryside and stop into a cosy pub for delicious food and drink.
