The iconic Old Fashioned cocktail is both simple and delicious. A traditional Old Fashioned is made with Bourbon Whiskey, sugar, aromatic bitters and orange peel and is diluted by using lots of ice. Like many cocktails, the origin is shrouded in the mist of time, but the cocktail was first mentioned in 1806 in a New York paper, The Balance and Columbian Repository, and is thought to be the primordial cocktail of all time. Since then, we have seen lots of variations of this straight-forward cocktail.
Our Head of Mixology, Oliver Morris, has created an Old Fashioned using our Cotswolds Signature Single Malt Whisky which we hope you'll enjoy making at home.
Cotswolds Old Fashioned
Simplicity in a glass. Delicious notes of sweet malted barley, hints of caramel and overtones of toasted butterscotch with a bitter marmalade finish.
60ml Cotswolds Signature Single Malt Whisky
10ml maple syrup
2 x dashes aromatic bitters
Dissolve the whisky and maple syrup in a cocktail jar or glass. Add ice and stir continuously for dilution. Add the bitters, more ice and stir a few more times. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and express orange peel around the glass. Garnish with the orange peel and serve. Enjoy!
