Production Operative

We're looking for an engaged, production-inclined individual who is willing to work as a team in a fast-paced environment, preferably with prior experience working on bottling/packaging equipment. Candidates must exhibit a continuous improvement mindset and behaviours. Candidates must also demonstrate behaviours of professionalism and teamwork. Full training will be provided.

Distillery Manager

We are a growing business and team, well positioned to grow strongly in the coming years and are looking to recruit a Distillery Manager to manage all key production aspects of our distillery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for liquid supply annual, quarterly and monthly production planning, as well as weekly scheduling needs through an understanding of the demands dictated by the Planning function
  • You will be responsible for the oversight of all raw materials ordering related to whisky production to ensure production can continue without supply interruptions
  • You will be responsible for multi-site operations within production and warehousing
  • You will be responsible for delivery of the QMS, Health, Safety & Environmental and HMRC compliance
  • You will be responsible for Cost, Efficiency, Energy, Yield, Volume, Water, Effluent, Carbon targets for the Distillery Production
  • You will be responsible for driving CI across all whisky production sites
  • You will be responsible for ensuring all production activities remain on time and within budget
  • You will coordinate & collaborate with all production departments around delivering & managing regulatory bodies
  • You will take the lead in ensuring delivery of production operations, process management, improvement, spirit trials, supplier conformity and problem solving related to whisky production
  • You will be responsible to cover compliance and maintenance repair projects from day-today running of systems to initiation and closure of stand-alone projects as related to all whisky production facilities
  • You will set goals & objectives for the whisky production team whilst managing performance and reviews, Including leading weekly team meetings
  • You will ensure all company & regulatory compliance are adhered to during the manufacturing process
  • You will manage the production of new make malt spirit, and provide managerial and, where necessary operational, cover for new make whisky and rum spirit and gin production
  • Oversee regular stock counts of liquid and raw materials
  • Technical/engineering responsibility for all whisky production and distilling equipment and systems. All equipment must be operational, safe, and well maintained regularly in line with agreed preventative maintenance schedules. Reactive maintenance and repairs as necessary
  • Research into new equipment and ways to become more sustainable
  • The above is not exhaustive as additional ad-hoc tasks may be required to meet the needs of the business. At busy times of year (Q4 in particular) it will be necessary to work weekend and evening shifts

Special Requirements:

  • You will come from a Malt Distilling or Process Plant background
  • You will bring strong leadership & management experience with the ability to lead, coach, train and develop manage teams
  • You will be Degree qualified or equivalent qualification/experience in a Production or Engineering discipline
  • You must be able to display a strategic vision
  • You will be a strong problem solver and decision maker
  • Strong IT skills are essential
  • Comprehensive product knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, time management skills and self-motivation
  • Forklift license and experience using warehouse equipment
  • Expert knowledge of HACCP and SALSA/BRC standards, HMRC regulations and HSE standards required

Quality and Compliance Officer

We are looking to recruit a Quality and Compliance Officer to take on the administration and maintenance of our quality systems (primarily, though not limited to, Food Quality and Health & Safety).

The role is to ensure our processes and products meet the required GMP standards, Quality Assurance Compliance and H&S goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality and Safety Management System administration
  • Quality Management Systems improvements
  • Generating and reviewing SOPs, SSWs, and RAs
  • Review Control Procedures
  • Non-conformance and Deviation Reports
  • Complaint handling (technical aspects)
  • Any other documentation involving the QMS and H&S systems
  • GDPR

Essential Attributes:

  • Have high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Carry out due diligence
  • Be competent with Microsoft Office
  • Be a team player and self-motivated
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have experience in a GMP Food environment in QA/QC or Compliance

Warehouse Operative

Key Responsibilities:

  • Filling and disgorging casks
  • Racking casks in warehouse
  • Drawing cask samples
  • Receiving, storing, and maintaining optimal condition of casks
  • Accurate and timely entry of records such as cask accounts,
  • Unleashed, angels’ share, cask movement, and stock takes
  • Stock counts
  • Routine housekeeping, according to the schedule
  • Optimising warehousing space

Special Requirements:

  • High attention to detail, especially to process, record keeping, and compliance systems
  • Organised and methodical with good planning skills
  • Determination to thrive in a small team and be willing to muck in
  • Technical and hands-on practical ability
  • Problem solving skills
  • Flexibility to cope with change in a rapidly growing business
  • Forklift truck licence
  • 7-tonne or HGV licence
