All of the taste, less of the alcohol.
The finest ingredients
We use nine carefully-considered botanicals to make our Cotswolds Dry Gin Essence. Juniper berries, coriander seed and angelica root form the base botanicals, to which we add local lavender from the Cotswolds, freshly-peeled pink grapefruit & lime zest, bay leaves, black peppercorn and cardamom seed.
Nose: Fresh notes of grapefruit and coriander backed-up by sweet, piney juniper. A hint of perfumed Cotswold lavender.
Palate: Clean, pine juniper spice with fresh citrussy grapefruit. A touch of dryness from the angelica root, with eucalyptus notes from bay leaf. Subtle lime and lavender.
Finish: Clean and balanced. Juniper, citrus and some cooling notes from the bay leaf and cardamom.
When making our Cotswolds Dry Gin Essence, we use 10x the botanical concentration of our Cotswolds Dry Gin but distil it in the same way, leaving the base botanicals to macerate overnight in our 50L gin still, Valerie, before adding the rest of the botanicals the next morning. During distillation, we only select the purest liquid known as the 'hearts', which is then left to rest for 5 days to allow the various flavours to come together and settle.
The result is an intense distillate which retains all of the botanical flavour of our standard Cotswolds Dry Gin, but the G&T it makes has 1/10th of the alcohol (vs. 50ml serve of Cotswolds Dry Gin).
For a lighter & deliciously refreshing Cloudy G&T, fill a copa glass with ice and add 5ml (5 full droppers) of Cotswolds Dry Gin Essence to 200ml of your favourite tonic water. Stir and garnish with a slice of fresh pink grapefruit and a bay leaf.
