To celebrate English Whisky's newly granted Geographical Indication status, we've released The Full English. A whisky built purely from the local area: local barley, English water, distilled and matured here in the Cotswolds. Aged in its entirety in English oak from a sustainably managed forest, in a cask handmade by master cooper Alastair Simms at Jensen's, the last remaining cooperage in England.

On the nose, sweet resin, dried figs and cacao nibs, lifted by aromatic baking spices. The palate brings spiced oranges and mulled wine, with chestnuts and a round, well-structured tannin. The finish is long and resinous, aromatic spiced citrus held together by well-integrated wood tannins.
Malt: 100% locally grown, traditionally floor malted barley from the Cotswolds. Yeast: Two complementary varieties - Anchor and Fermentis - to ensure good yields and excellent fruity flavours. Water: Village water supply - filtered, softened and demineralised before use. Wood: Maturation in entirely English oak sourced from Jensen's Cooperage.

The story behind our whisky

Over a decade ago, when we started out, English whisky barely existed as a category. Today it stands protected in law alongside Scotch, Welsh and Irish whisky. A milestone we've worked towards for years, and one we're marking with this special release.

"What better way to celebrate English Whisky's new GI status than with a single cask single malt that is English to its very core?," said Dan Szor, founder of Cotswolds Distillery. "This whisky brings together local provenance, traditional craftsmanship and everything we love about Cotswolds single malt.

"It felt only right to name it after another much-loved national institution: The Full English. With its bold new-oak character balanced by our signature sweet depth and fruitiness, it's a wonderfully distinctive expression of our whisky, and I dare say it would pair rather beautifully with its namesake."

Alice and Robyn hand-bottled it themselves on the 11th September, the very day the GI passed.

Serving suggestions

Best enjoyed on it’s own, but we don’t believe in rules when it comes to drinking whisky – sip this neat, over ice, in a cocktail – however you like.

Made In the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is hugely important to us; in fact, it defines every aspect of our being. We feel extremely lucky to live in one of England's most charming and beloved regions, full of character, romance and history. We try, where possible, to emphasise the rich agricultural bounty of the Cotswolds. The principle things that grow in the Cotswolds are fruits and grains, and these are the building blocks of our flavour profiles.
