We use traditional ingredients and equipment, but we're never afraid to experiment. From the start we were guided by two whisky legends: Dr Jim Swan, known as "the Einstein of whisky", and Harry Cockburn, former Distillery Manager at Bowmore. Their thinking still shapes how we work today.

English Whisky, protected
In 2026, English Whisky became a protected Geographical Indication, joining Scotch, Irish and Welsh whisky. Whisky can now only be sold as English Whisky if it's distilled in England from UK grain and English water. We made the first whisky ever distilled in the Cotswolds, and we're proud to be part of a category with its own recognised identity.
Our leadership team
Cotswolds Distillery was founded in 2014 by Daniel Szor, who remains Founder and CEO. He leads the business with Maurice Doyle (Chairman), Katia Cikurel (Non-Executive Director), Kerrin Egalka (Commercial Director), Phillip Blundell (Chief Financial Officer) and Alice Pearson (Operations Director).
