Wetlands in the cotswolds

Looking after the land

Our whisky is made from locally grown Cotswolds barley. That's why we've turned our distillery site into a home for wildlife, from wetlands that clean our wastewater to a meadow full of Cotswold wildflowers.

Our wetlands

On our distillery site, a network of reedbeds and ponds clean around three quarters of the wastewater from our whisky making, using plants and natural processes. That's tens of thousands of litres less waste each week, fewer tankers on local roads, and a new home for wildlife. Built with Living Water Ecosystems and Rachael White Designs, and funded by Berry Bros. & Rudd, it won Biodiversity Achievement of the Year at the 2025 Global Drinks Intel ESG Awards.

Home to wildlife

The wetlands and the grassland around them are now home to hedgehogs, harvest mice, bats, toads and newts. Two beehives support our pollinators. In 2020 we restored the meadow next to the distillery with Cotswold wildflowers, working with the Glorious Cotswold Grasslands project, and the whole site sits on a Buglife B-Line, a national network of pathways for pollinators.

Our barley

Single malt needs just three things: water, yeast and barley. Ours is grown 15 minutes away at Akeman Street Farm by Michael Greene, a fifth-generation farmer. We know the farm, the family and the field where every bottle begins.

Sustainable

Our on-site wetlands treat our wastewater and provide a home for wildlife.

Local

We use local ingredients wherever we can, from Cotswolds barley to water and botanicals.

Lovingly Crafted

We've been making our spirits at our distillery in the Cotswolds since 2014.

Caring for the Cotswolds

We raise money for Caring for the Cotswolds, a conservation scheme run by the Cotswolds National Landscape. It helps protect the area's landscape and heritage, conserve habitats and species, and support education.
